The Ardèche, between nature and heritage

Ancient province of Vivarais, the Ardèche offers a wealth of landscapes. In the High-Vivarais, in the north-west, there is a land of high hills and medium-sized mountains, foothills of the massif central, damp and green.

At the centre of the department, the plateau du Coiron in the middle-Vivarais, the soils are basalt and limestone, and form the transition to frank with the south.

This one, the bas-Vivarais is much more dry and borrow the mediterranean vegetation. It is here that the Ardèche river has carved the spectacular gorges that make up its reputation as a tourist with numerous caves and aven.

Cultural tourism is not left with the ruins of Alba la romaine, the romanesque churches of Larnas and the abbey of Saint-Marie de Cruas, Fishponds and its cathedral, or the châteaux de Vogüé de Largentière, and Labastide de Virac; not to mention the festival Aluna to Ruoms , to great music event pop-rock which enchants visitors with quality programming that made him one of the most important in the south of France.
